Summary: This is how people move on. One step at a time.
She's surprised it takes him as long as it does, honestly, but she understands him better then anyone else, even if she doesn't know him better, and sure enough, an hour after midnight, a month after the last funeral, he's at her door. He doesn't look any different then he did when there were an infinite amount of people out for his life, and she muses at that, and the idea of living just to spite someone else, for a moment before she invites him in. Even if that hadn't motivated him at times, it was still a driving reason, she's sure, and what can people do when the war's over but they're still soldiers?
Learning to be something else is much more difficult then anyone expected, she thinks.
She was barely a soldier, though, and she's not sure where that leaves her, but it's got to better then where he is, stuck fighting long before he can even remember.
She's still stuck in between, still has very little to offer, but she can give him this. She can make him forget for a night, make him feel something new, something good.
She thinks it's a start.
